Tara & Chris | Engagements

2 posts in one day, it doesn’t happen very often, but, Tara & Chris definitely have it going on with their pics.  It’s been a long time running since I first met with Tara & Chris, a lot of things have changed with my business and style.  I don’t know if she planned it this way, but they sure planned it assuming that I would get better and better at what I do instead of taking their engagements over 1 year ago.  They have a TON of amazing pics and it was a struggle for me to pic the very favorites for the blog (I’m sure they will attest to it too)!

We started at a local theater on the northwest side of Tucson.  The theater manager was totally awesome and gave us some sweet access to the theater and their amenities, so be sure to head over to Tower Theater and see what makes them different than the other theaters.  We then traveled over to an Ace Hardware and just had some good ole’ fun in a new location.  We finished off their session with more awesomeness at the University of Arizona.  So many great locations, so much fun.  The end of the day produced some wicked awesome light.  Can’t wait for their wedding come March!

Philadelphia Wedding

I had an awesome time this weekend photographing a very special wedding with my good friend Tony Hoffer. He is an extremely talented shooter and it was a pleasure being able to work with him.  This weekend was the “snowmageddon” in the Northeast USA and I got to see it first hand.  It was probably the most snow I’ve ever seen in my life, around 24″.  It was quite the site, made for slower travel, but it was a sight to be seen.  Donny & Angela were not phased, they kept on going despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions, but they did not seem to mind one bit.  It is definitely a wedding that I will not soon forget.  Be sure to give a big thanks and visit Tony’s website for having me out to shoot with him.

Tony already posted quite a few of my shots on his blog, but I thought I would share a few of mine.

NYC

I left for Philadelphia on Wednesday to shoot with a good friend of mine, Tony Hoffer.  I realized that I have never been this close to NYC, so we made a quick trip up to see the Big Apple, something that I have been waiting to do my whole life.  It definitely was an experience, sort of an all-day “lets cram as much as we can do in 8 hours” type of trip.  Can’t wait to go back, but here are a few images I shot during the day.

I can’t quite explain the effect below, it was an LED lamp on the front of the subway car, but it looks cool

Jennifer Turner - I like your new website and I love the pictures of NYC. Obviously, your tourist pictures are way better than the average tourist’s.

stevie + kyle engagement

Wow. I’m speechless. Stevie + Kyle brought their game for a killer set of engagements. Good planning = good portraits; Excellent planning + creative ideas = crazy awesome portraits. It really does pan out like that! I love it when my clients come to me with ideas about some cool things that they enjoy doing and you mix it with some off the wall creativity and you get some really awesome stuff. Thanks Stevie + Kyle, it made for an awesome session!

There are so so so so so many other awesome portraits, I feel like I’m seriously handicapping the overall set by only showing a mere 26 on the blog. We headed to Funtasticks for some lazer tag, miniature golf, bumper boats and other fun activities that we could incorporate into their session. I have been wanting to do an engagement session with laser tag for quite some time. I was pleasantly surprised at how REALLY DARK it was. The fog machine was down so no laser action, but, the overall ambient was slick. We then headed downtown for some more relaxed and artistic portraits. Hard to recap such a session in so few words. Can’t wait for their wedding!

megan’s sweet sixteen

I love my job because I get to work with such awesome and fun people, and Megan’s sweet sixteen party is near the top of the list of fun and awesome photoshoots! Megan’s mom contacted me not too long before her planned birthday extravaganza and had a fantastic idea in mind: surprise photoshoot for 16 cheerleader friends. It evolved to some standard studio portraits of all the girls having a blast into a full blown surprise fashion session atop a downtown Tucson parking garage at 10pm at night. TOTALLY COOL in my book if you ask me. All the girls got all glam’d up, hit the town on a scavenger hunt in a stretch limo, dinner at north, and to end the night was a freaking awesome photoshoot with my crew. I had a complete blast, and from what I hear on the grapevine, so did everyone else. It’s Megan’s birthday tomorrow, so make sure you wish her a Happy Birthday everyone!

If you are interested in any prints from this event and seeing more, please give me a call at 520-344-0443, or email me at: info (at) spencerboerup.com

Best of 2009

2009 came and went faster than I could have imagined. So many wonderful things happened during the year, so much that I am truly grateful for. It would be hard for me to spend even a whole week trying to document the wonderful things that 2009 brings to me, so suffice to say, this blog post is a weak attempt at highlighting some of the very best. This is mainly a “Best of 2009″ showcase of a the many photographs and wonderful clients from the year 2009. Trust me, it was a hard task to pick and cull through thousands of images that were to be selected to show what I did in 2009. I tried to limit my selections to the very very best from each session. Not all sessions were blogged, not all of them will have made it into the “Best of 2009″ slideshow simply because I am human and will err. I want to give a BIG thank you to all my wonderful clients that I had a chance to work with and have made 2009 such an amazing year. It has been one of the best yet for me, which leaves me with a lot of excitement for 2010.

One of the biggest accomplishments of 2009 was the new studio! Thanks to everyone who was able to join me at the open house. If you have yet to come by, please give me a call or shoot me an email so you can see its glory in person! Along with the studio came a lot of new work, a lot of which I’m still trying to catch up!

As for 2010, expect to see many new and great things coming from the studio. I’m currently in the process of rebranding the website, blog and studio. New year, new changes, so a new look thats refined and a little more “updated” to what I feel my style has evolved into. Stay tuned for that one, it should be ready before February! A lot of travel plans have already been made for 2010, I’ll be in Nashville next week, Philadelphia in 1 month and many more exciting places. Due to the growth that I am experiencing and expecting, I will possibly be adding atleast 1-2 full time staff members. Don’t get me started on the headache of new accounting woes and payroll, but, I’m excited to start on new projects and offer better service (you’re probably thinking how it could get better already!) to all of my totally awesome customers!

So take a moment, sit back, and enjoy the “Best of 2009″ slideshow. The slides are in almost chronological order, so try and keep up! If you enjoyed it, please use the links below to share on Facbeook, Twitter, Digg and other social media sites. Feel free to leave a comment as well!
